I finally stepped into the cinema to watch Barbie! It brings back memories of my days at Mattel Shanghai office. The thousand days I was responsible for Barbie and the Doll Category in the Chinese market were truly filled with countless precious experiences.
🌟 From Sketch to Spotlight: My initial moment in the limelight was introducing the upcoming products to hundreds of distributors. A custom-made tulle dress inspired by Robert Best’s sketches, mirroring the iconic Barbie Signature, successfully captured attention and bring a touch of Barbie to the presentation, continuously enhancing many subsequent brand events.
🌟 Strategic Innovation: With the rise of livestream e-commerce in China, we expanded beyond the traditional toy category, showcasing our Signature Edition Barbies on Tmall's Queen's Day, targeting stylish young women as potential Barbie collectors. By combining Barbie’s grandest exhibit in China with continuous interactions on e-commerce live streams that accumulated over a million views , we successfully broadened our clientele in China.
🌟 Core Values: Every Barbie tells a unique story. My role often involved sharing the origin tale of Ruth Handler and how Barbie came to be. Every event and media strategy revolved around a powerful message: “You Can Be Anything.” Continuously advocating this belief has always been inspiring to me.
My time in Shanghai felt as if I had stepped into the world of the Barbie movie — characterized by passion, dedication, and invaluable lessons that I hold close to my heart.
